93 Audi 100, fuel injectors not getting signal to open
I replace the automatic transmission in my 1993 Audi 100 2.8L. Now the engine will not start.
It turns over and has spark. It has about 30psi. at the fuel rail.
None of the fuel injectors are opening.
Possible culprit:
I removed the starter without disconnecting the battery. And the positive lead arced against the engine.
-Could that damage the ECM?
Are there any sensors on the transmission that would keep the CPU from opening the fuel injectors?

no but the camshaft position sensor on the back of the drivers head will. As far as the frying the ecu thing, i doubt it. But i would check all the engine management fuses located under a red cover in the under hood fuse box, and remove the lower cover under the wheel and there should be a couple fuses up at the top with the relays that have something to do with engine management also.

Thank You your reply was very helpful.
I found a wiring diagram. I am assuming the hall generator is the camshaft positioning sensor.
I could not figure out haw to test it.
So I bought one online for $25.
I also bought a ECM from a wrecking yard for $70.
I am assuming that is is one of these.
I fuel injectors are getting 11 volts from the fuel pump relay thru the green/white wires.
But the ECM is applying 10.5 volts the the injectors thru the brown/---- wires.
I know if I had a Oscope it would be easier to troubleshoot.
I will be installing the components of Thursday.
Any more thoughts will be appreciated.
Thank you

I installed the new camshaft positioning sensor and used ECM.
The first time I turned the engine over, the fuel injectors where opening.
On the second try, they did not.
There must be some data stored in the ECM non-volatile memory. Telling the ECM not to open the fuel injectors.
Is there a way to check the ECM codes without towing the car to a dealership?
