Default '93 quattro 100cs overheating

I hope this is the right format.
First timer here and iqnorant about cars but a frustrated Audi owner. The car has been overheating and in the shop twice in the last 6 months. I had the head gasket, water pump (twice), thermostat and reservoir cap replaced. Fan seems to run fine and no leaks discovered during pressure tests.Yet I will be driving only a short distance when the inside heat turns cold, temp climbs and water/antifreeze spews out the overflow. Mechanic says "keep water in it" which is obvious but unless I have the cap on so tight I can't budge it in order to top it off(yes, I'm wimpy) the water will pour out in just a few blocks. Running the air on high seems to bring temp down and heat comes back. Now mechanic says "sell car". Any other suggestions?

Radiator flushed? On my '84, rust/debris in radiator caused blockage.

Radiator seems to be the consenses and I live on the Orgon Coast where rust is king!
