A6 Auto Gearbox

Hi,I have a A6 1996 1.8 SE Auto which needs a new gearbox.The gearbox is a 01N type code DFG.
Does any one know if a A4 gearbox with the same code fit my A6?

Should fit if same code. But the US market never got the A6 w/ 1.8L engine, so don't know for sure.
