Can anyone please explain what the difference is between the Bilstein HD and Sport shocks?

Can anyone please explain what the difference is between the Bilstein HD and Sport shocks?
I know it is a stupid question but I'm trying to figure out what would be the best for me to use when I go with a new set of springs (H&R's).
This is all coming about because twice in the past two weeks, I almost got hit head on by some stupid non-driving rednecks (the one today was yapping on a cell phone to make things worse), and on top of that, having a drunk redneck play chicken on sunday night by coming to a complete stop in the middle of the road just over a crest of a hill, running me off the road when I tried to pass him, coming once again to a complete stop this time in the middle of a sharp "S" turn. And when swerveing to avoid getting splattered I almost lost it once because the suspension is way too soft (also doesnt help when the OEM ride hight is too high). For my brakes, I have everything on order (Brembo slotted F&R, Goodridge lines, ATE Super Blue fluid, and mintex pads) when I have the brakes done, I'm having the proportioning valve adjusted so the rears handle a little bit more of the work.
In other words, I've had a really bad two weeks....
my car is a '95 A6 non quattro BTW
God I miss my 35 ton Bradley

That's what I figured, but some places have the same discription for both........
IE "For use with shorter springs........." Kinda misleading. I'm figuring about $700 between springs, shocks, strut bearings, and various bushings.

Same dampening settings.
Sports are shorter stroke.
Sports are 12mm top threaded shank:re-S4 size
HD's are 10 mm.-stock.
