Check Engine Light

My check engine light for the 96 A6qw is on for couple days. It should reset itselt when nothing is wrong, shouldn't it? At least my 97 A4 1.8q does that.

I don't see any different in performance and the car run normal. When I first saw the light, I thought it was related to bad gas and waiting the light to reset itself. It stays on for 3 days and I start to worry that something is wrong with the car i.e. EGR, oxgyen sensor etc..

BTW I don't have VAG tool to pull the code.

CEL generally requires VAG scan tool to clear. You can also pull the code using the A/C display....
