Default DID ANYONE DO A PAINT JOB LATELY? IN NYC AREA?

Hey Guyz.

I have a friend that wants to paint her 94 100. Her's actual color is same as mine's. Black. Did anyone do someting like it lately? Do you know a good and cheap place in New York City area to recommend? What cost is she looking at? Any input'll be appreciated.

Ask on the A4, S4, or A6 forum... more people. Usually $1,500-$2,000 for a good job.

Ummm!! A cheap Paint Job is just that. Many parts of the car need to be dismantled, the car sanded, many areas down to base (like fiberglass/plastic). I know a great place in Jersey City 5 min from tunnels,(Centro Auto 201-653-7753 John) they will do the car the right way. If you are in a hurry these are not the guys though. There are currently two Audi's there, 2 Bmw's, a Porsche (mine) a Ferrari, well you get the idea. They do great work. My guess is perhaps 2500. Barry

Default and for the cheaper option,...

i took my black 93 100 cs quattro to a maaco in chicago last fall, and i was really surprised. see my pic posts.

i was happy enough to bring it to their long island city location for some touch ups (parking on the streets in manhattan is not car friendly). it's there now, i pick up on wednesday.

you can get the whole car done for about 400-450. when it's waxed and clean, it looks brand new - certainly not what you'd expect from a low-rent place like maaco. the manager in long island city is danny - he's a car nut and digs audis.

now, if you're talking about an S4,... of course not. go uptown. but for a car worth maybe $7-9k, ... worked for me.

Yeah.

Just called Danny. He seemed nice enough and invited me to come over to asess toe work needed. If I want it whole it'll run anywhere between $450 - $500.

Hey Bpower. What's your real level of satisfaction on this in scale 1-10? I mean overall. Quality of paint, original match, etc...?

It was better then I expected. My expectation was maybe a 6, and it turned out to be an 8 I guess.

I park on the street in NYC, and at the time, I just got keyed the whole length of the passenger side, so I just wanted to get a decent job. It's not a super duper deep, high luster paint job, and there were some very minor glitches (overspreay in the wheel well, which no ones sees), but I'd do it again if that's the question. When it's washed/waxed, it's pretty sharp.

I'd be more than happy to meet up so you can inspect mine for yourself. Of course, since the paint job I've added a nice new batch of scratches, dents, etc. courtesy of cabs, garbage men, stupid a**hole parkers, etc.
