Fuel Guage adjustment?

Fuel Guage adjustment?
The fuels guage on my 95 A6 is reading low -- just over 3/4 when the tank is topped off.
Is there a way to adjust the needle to get it into the correct range?
Thanks,
Tom

Yeah, but it involves removing the dashboard.
You can move the needle manually by taking the dash out and removing the backing, exposing the gauges. You then can adjust the gas gauge, but after personally done this, I do not reccommend it. The gas gauge unit is very poorly designed inside, and I had quite the problem getting it to adjust properly, as it was getting stuck at the full position and not moving once I had adjusted it.
That being said, if you would like to venture into the task you can remove you dash via the screws directly underneath, then pulling the black trim in front of the gauges away, revealing 3 more screws which will then unlock the dashboard cluster from the car.
After doing so, you then turn the cluster towards you so can access the wires behind it, unplugging everything.
Once the cluster is out, you will see several screws which must all be removed. The fuel gauge will be easily noticable once the backing is removed, and then you can unscrew it as well to adjust the needle's default position.
This was quite the pain in the ***, and for all of my effort and time spent doing so, my needle still does not display correctly, but it does display relativaly more than 3/4, but not completely when full now that it has been adjusted to the maximum setting.

Oddly enough, it still goes down to E
and is accurate. When I hit the red area, I have about 2-3 gallons of fuel left, and when the marker goes completely to the bottom, my car will run out of gas.
