How difficult?
I read the write up on the axle removal, I just have one question on that. How was the transmission moved over? Like it says in the writeup.
Would it be simpler to just purchase the bushings instead of replacing the whole assembly?
There are crush sleeves and stretch bolts that hold the lower control arms to the subframe. Replace them as it says in your manual.
Special tools?
The bit for taking out the CV joint bolts
The big socket for the axle nut
A big beaker bar for loosening said nut
A ball joint puller (not a pickle fork)
A 3' long pry bar from the hardward store
Not sure why you would need to move the trans axle. You can usually turn the stub enough by removing the tie rod end, or pull the entire hub assembly out further by removing the lower ball joint.
You may want to look into doing the big bushing(s) on the lower arm while you have it all apart.
its actually a quiet simple job. loosed the bolt at the end of the axel then pop the wheel off and take the rest of the bolts out. i had to drop one of the lower bolts to get the axel out, but i was not difficult
