Leaking cooling water - freeze plug?
My Audi 100 -91 v6 with AAH engine is leaking water from under the engine between the engine and the automatic transmission. The water is realy pooring out. Is there a freeze plug in the block between the engine and the transmission?

I'd read Kday's thread very carefully to see if it matches your problem
hopefully it's an easy fix<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/77595.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/77595.phtml</a</li></ul>

Re: Leaking cooling water - freeze plug?
Thank you for all the replies. The pictures where realy helpful. The cooling water must be coming from the freeze plug or the gasket that is visible on the pictures. Next step will be to remove the engine and the transmission.

Hold it right there mister! Try removing that allen headed drain plug....
It's up inside that "tube" shape you see in the left side of kday's photos. Note that in one photo, he's got an allen key bunged up into it from below. That's how you get to it.
Crawl under and check it out. There are a bunch of allen headed bolts, so grab a flashlight and locate the one up inside the "tube" shape. You'll see it.
If you could come up with a way to pressurize the cooling system, you could put 15lbs of pressure on it, and then watch for where coolant was coming out. But to do that, you'd have to have that expensive Stant pressure tester kit, and the expensive adaptor that allows it to be use with the Audi coolant bottle.
I'd do more diagnostics before I yanked the engine!

Hmm. I've never seen that part of the engine...
The crud seems to collect in the chamber above the block drain plug. It collects there because that must be the low point in the block cooling jackets.

I wonder if it's possible to run a small hose through the drain hole attached to a shop-vac to suck out the crud? Is it even worthwhile?

Re: Can't you get to the plug from underneath the car?
The water is pouring out from the holes under the transmission bell housing. It is impossible to see the leak from the engine block since the transmission is bolted on, and covers this part of the engine.
