Default Level of oil engine goes down on Audi A6, 2.8L, 1996

I don't know what should I think. I tested the level of engine oil and figured out that engine is loosing aroung 700ml of oil on 700 miles.
Does anyone know what the problem can be? I don't see any problem with power of engine just only the noice of valves is kind of high from my point of view. How to reduce the loosing of engine oil. I don't see any major leaking.
Many thank in advance!

Default That level of consumption isn't too high for a smoky old leaky pig boat.

It is on the high side. I use about 1 quart (max) between oil changes every 5000 miles. Some, probably most, is leaking out the engine.

If you keep the engine RPMs less than 3000 until the oil is warmed up it may help.

Default This is a border line. 700ml/700miles = 1L/1000Mi.

According to the manual it is normal to loose up to 1L/1000Mi. So I would keep an eye on the oil level. If you will exceed 1L/1000Mi, make some investigation.

Default You need to check oil every 500mi or every second time you fill tank.

For example the difference between "full" and "need adding oil" is 1L of oil. Some engine might consume up to 1L/1000 miles and it is normal. So between 3000 miles changes you might want to add 3L (or 3qt.) of oil.

Of cause usually engine consumes mutch less and you do not really need to add it.

BTW I had Subaru it consumed a lot of oil. But it might be because it was a "Turbo" model.

Default What the reason for such high level of consumption of oil in Audi V6?

Is it possible to reduce this kind of consumption of oil?

Default Leaking valve stems, gaskets.

It could be due to the synthetic oil or the warped parts or worn stems. I even heared story, that engineers made it on purpose, so some oil goes outside and covers engine to protect it from rust. Of cause I do not believe in it .
