Default Maaco good or bad?

I want to paint my green 100 black and Maaco offers their ambassador special this month for $229.00

Default Bad but...

You get what you pay for, but if your paint is really bad, it may be an affordable improvement.

From what I've seen, cheaper Maaco paint fades after a few of years in the sun, will have ripples and overspray, but won't flake off the car. I've heard quality varies from shop to shop, and have heard some horror stories (spraying paint on a wet car).

If you're Audi is looking a little too beat for you, its only ~$250, so you're not risking much, especially if the car itself is 10 years old and starting to wear out in other places.

Default You should be embarrassed to even ask that question-

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/48795/dsc00094.jpg"></center><p>What kind of paint job do you think you'll get for $229?

(I do body work)

Just to give you an example, a quart of paint for this car I painted (my girlfriend's) costs $76 per quart. (used 2 quarts)
1 quart of primer costs $40ish.
2 quarts of PPG 2021 (clearcoat) costs $70
hardners and reducers (used in ratio with the different coats) cost $80-100
Sandpaper costs ~$15 per job
Labor hours on a real job ~8-10 to repaint same color
15+ for different color

Don't take it to maaco. I wouldn't even peep at a car for less than $800 complete job, and we're talking an $800 paint job that professional shops would charge you $2000-$3000. I wouldn't even consider getting a paint job for less, because it won't be worth the money. Yes, you can get cheaper paint and clearcoat, but in 2 years it will fade and the clear will start to peel back from the trim and edges of the surfaces.

Just FYI you're better keeping your car the same color.

I agree 100 % with what 2.7 Turbo says. I used to do paint work myself. It may sound strange but I would rather have a faded OEM paint job than a shiny $250 paint job.

The Macco job won't last, more important to me is that they will get overspray on everything. The tape work is poor at best.

The other side to this is that most people can't tell the difference between good paint work and $250. paint work. So you would probably think it's fine.
