My dad called me telling me the '98 Avant brake pedal is going to the floor...
barely stopping the car. The only thing I could think of, without looking, is a cracked brake line or failed brake master cylinder. Any suggestions?

Basically that's it
failed lines, bulging soft lines, failed slave cylinders, air getting into the m/c due to super low fluid level (almost gone pads, without topping up), broken linkage.
