Default in need of 2.8 oil pan!

Some of the threads came out with the plug this time while removing the drain plug, now it weeps a little bit of oil. It's driveable, but I gotta do the right thing and replace it. Anyone on here have a good oil pan bottom?

Default May be easier and cheaper to have it welded

you may be able to weld in a threaded fitting, or weld up the stripped threads and re-tap them.

Default drill it out and re-tap it with the next size up or with whatever grade 8 bolt you can find

Its very easy to do
you can even try to use the same size tap to see if you can fix the threads enough to not leak..

Default They make all sorts of products to fix this kind of thing...

Timeserts, helicoils, who knows what else. If it works on spark plugs (BTDT with a subaru) it must work on oil drain bolts.

Default Dave's got it.

Find an industrial supply (McMaster-Carr, etc.)and by the right tap. Or, even better, find out what size and pitch that is, and buy either a Heli-coil kit for it, or a "Time-sert".

Take you 10min to pull that pan, and it can be done easily without removing or even loosening the subframe/swaybar, etc.

Remember to use a new crush washer each time you change the oil.

Default I used this on my Acura when the threads were stripped

Oil just drains out slower through the smaller bolt.
