New Project Car...not Audi...
I picked up a new project car to keep the 94 100 CS company in the driveway. The car was for sale when the starter went out...or at least something in the starter circuit. I'll be troublshooting it tonight. We cut a good deal on the beast and it should be a lot of fun to play with.
The PO has 3 *SWEET* Lotus cars; the blue convertible in the background is a 91 Lotus Elan.
Someday I'll quit this madness and actually take the time to change the valley pan gasket and clean the EGR valve in my Audi.
Are there any other Jag owners here?

I really hope you're an electrical engineer, or are married to one
where the americans use 5 wires, the japanese use 3, and the germans use 8...the british use 23. but if it's made it to 157K it's probably a "good" one. best of luck!

Well.....I got it home.
I spent a few hours last night and tonight tracing out the problems. Long story short, the starting problem was solved by removing, testing, and cleaning the "Big 6" relays mounted on the right side firewall in the engine compartment. These relays are reknown for corrosion, vibration problems, and connector problems. Makes me appreciate VAG's attention to detail in this area.
I'm sure some of you can identify with that feeling when a car you've become intimate with turns over and fires up for the first time.
Purrrr.......
the guy with the comment about the elec engr was spot on...these cats are quirky. Though my engineering degreee is is not electrical, I have some experience in that field. It really helps to be able to read schematics and run a multimeter proficiently...and to be able to envision the failure scenarios. One of the quirky things about this car is that the fuel pump relay is powered by the oxygen sensor heater relay...who'd have thunk that?!?!?
The PO, previous owner, was kind enough to drive the car the 15 miles to my home tonight with his plates. He's truly a good egg. More photos to follow.
