New question about an old problem.
When I got my car, I had a hole in my air box, both in the front near the bottom and on the botom itself kind of pointing towards the engine. I don't know why I didn't take care of this before but it finally got to me. I think the previous owner drilled the air box to let in more air. Has anyone ever heard of this before? The hole in the front I'm sure helps, but I bet it also lets in more dirt and a chance of water if I go into a big puddle. The hole of the bottom I'm sure just sucks in hot engine air. Anyway I am looking for a new box. I'm sure this, combined with me using a K&N filter the past 4 or 5 years probably wasn't good. Oh well, trying to get it back in shape now, and will probably put a paper filter back in and try and sell the K&N. I'm sure everyone would agree with me? Just wanted to hear opinions about the drilled airbox.

You'll find aluminum tape at the hardware store will do a very nice job patching those
I agree you should patch 'em up. Consider using that aluminum tape. I get it from Home Deep Hole, so I'm sure Lowe's and others carry it. Nicely cut and applied smooth and it would look fine and work perfect.....while you look for a new box.
