Problems starting my 91 Audi 100
I'm hoping somebody can help me with a problem. I've had my Audi 100 for 2 years now and haven't run into a problem until last week when my radio died and so I figured it was a fuse. I bought a fuse kit and checked and sure enough, the fuse was blown. I decided to use this opportunity to check the rest of the fuses which were fine.
I did, however, realize that there was no fuse in the slot that correlates to the fuel pump. I found this weird because you'd think something like that would be necessary so I put the correct fuse in that slot and started it up. No problems.
The problems started happening when I went to work the next afternoon. Getting in the car(note:it was a hot day)I turned the key in the ignition but it wouldn't start, just a clicking sound from the fuse box. I tried removing the fuel pump fuse but that didn't help. After a few hours I tried again and it started no problem. Now it's hit-miss whether my car will start or not. Seems like this problem usually happens when the engine is hot (starts fine in the morning).
I've tried many times to start it without that fuel pump fuse I added but it never starts without it anymore.
Any ideas?
