I test drove a 1988 Toyota Camry last night that had THE WORST CV joints I've ever heard. Those babies were clacking and clattering away!
The owner commented that the transmission shop that diagnosed the problem for him said that these bad CV joints could cause the reduction of power noticed when climbing hills.
I'm doubtful that bad CV joints could cause this "lack of power", but before I Pooh-Pooh it completely I thought I'd do a reality check with my fellow DIY'ers here at AudiWorld.
What do you think?

I've seen inner joints so bad that they created a vibration that felt like a tire with a bad belt, or severely out of balance under hard acceleration, or when climbing a steep hill under power.
