Default somke form the Air vent

hi,
first time I am putting in a message here, all the while have been just a reader.
Have a strange problem, thought I would share with you and see if anyone already saw this problem.
On a very cold start, and with the heat on, sometime I get a whiff of burnt plastic( smoke ), seems like some where in the pipeline theres some plastic which is getting burnt some how.
Any comment?

Also I think its time I get my suspension done, its too delicate for all the NY city bumps. Could someone suggest some stiff Suspension set.

thanks,
Audi Buddy ( RED Audi 100s 92)
PS. I know so many of you already........

Default Not sure about the smoke, but heres a suspension idea...

Bilstein Sport Shocks would be a nice handling upgrade. If you would like to lower the car a little check out Eibach or H&R springs.

I don't know what size wheel you are using now, stock?? But if you upgrade to a bigger wheel and go with a 225 series tire, your handling will improve as well.

Does the smoke come out of all the vents, or just certain ones?

Will the Bilstein Sport Shocks smoother? i.e. lessen the effect of bumps and potholes

No, the ride is stiffer and firmer, but handles much better, less body roll during cornering etc... My car hates train tracks and pot holes.

Default Just the shocks as of now, I'll be getting the springs soon

But remember I live in Michigan, and winter is still here, although its nice out today, it snowed a few days ago. It's not exactly summer time here. You guys all know what winter can do to the roads. And Michigan is notorious for having bad roads. Chicago roads are just like Michigan roads. Pot holes so big you can get lost in them. If you live in a city with nice roads DEFINATELY get these shocks. They aren't really that bad here, but I do notice little bumps, and I can't fly over train tracks, I have to slow to like 5mph or the front hits pretty hard.

I'm just about to put Bilsteins on and I ordered some H&R Springs, as much as I hate to install twice, I was almost thinking of installing the Bilsteins - running that for awhile - then adding the springs so I'd have a point of reference. With stock shocks and springs, my car hates train tracks, potholes or any extended uneven surface. It feels like it just wants to bounce/jitter right off line. I have had real good luck with Bilsteins in the past, especially with how much they smooth out rough stuff. Do you think driving over rough stuff (say lots of repetitive pothole patches) was worse after installing Bilsteins? Just curious!

Well I bought the car with a new set of bilsteins installed, so I don't know how bad it was stock. I just know that this is the stiffest riding car out of four at my household. 2 of my cars even have an electronically adjustable suspension, and even in the firm setting they don't ride near as stiff as my Audi. I'd just do the springs at the same time if you have them both.

I didn't get any info about Mobil 1, did you email it to me? Send again if you did. The wheels I have are 16" Audi 5-spokes, but the ones on the drawing in my sig are just a little skinnier spokes.
