It's that door lock **** project again.
The front door have threaded shafts- I took the ***** to verify.
Rear doors have smooth shafts and the door lock ***** I have obviously will not fit.
What's up with my car?

threads dont matter because the ***** aren't threaded
the ***** slide onto the shaft then rotate 90.deg to lock them in place.. just line up the flat side on the shaft with the flat spot on the ****.

Re: threads dont matter because the ***** aren't threaded
The front shafts are threaded and the door lock ***** screw on.
I called the audi dealers (Bellevue and University Audi) and they claim their parts book shows threaded shafts.
So, in my vehicle the front shafts are threaded and the ***** fit over them and screw on- on the rear doors the shafts are smooth and pushing the ***** on/over the shafts simply pushes them down inside the door.

look at the shafts..... they have a flat side
<center><img src="http://www.itallics.com/images/dl.jpg"></center><p>now look at the ***** they should have a small tab on the bottom..
Line the tab up with the flat side of the shaft and push down to where you want the **** to be located.
Then twist the **** 45 degrees in either direction to lock it in place..
I understand the front shafts have threads but the ***** don't screw on.
