Default Strut Cap removal

Changing out the strut cartridges. Got the drivers side done.

Can't get the passenger side strut cap off. Am using a 14" pipe wrench and a hammer. Worked fine for the other side, but not budging this side.

Any thoughts?

You might need a penetrant to loosen the crap up.

Default Long length of pipe to get good leverage. It seems most people have problems with the passanger side

W/out the tool, I doubt I would've ever gotten mine off. Oh, and once you get the cap off be prepared for the insert removal to be a PITA. If it doesn't want to come out, reinstall the mount and jack that side of the car up. The weight of the suspension falling, should free it up.

Default Yeah, thats more of a lub, there is better stuff. BG products. Heat will work often too.

You can heat with a plumbers torch. Impact wrench helps as well. We had to do this on my hub when we did my wheel bearings.

I used a 5ft breaker bar, a blow torch, and a bottle of PB Blaster. It came off in a few hours.

It should come off after soaking. Worse case, get the VW 2069 tool off of Ebay and sell it afterward

Default Nothing like a 3 ft breaker bar and some penetrating oil.

It came off with some muscle applied to the breaker bar.

Struts really tightened up the suspension and steering.

Thank you to everyone who helped!!!!
