In the 80s and early 90s the 80% of the taxies in my country will be this car with a Diesel Engine.

My older brother had an 1981 a few years ago and it was a very comfortable car compared to the new ones of course. 4 cyl 1.6 engine and the major complaint was the gas mileage... w/o the rear doors. After owning two British cars (don't go there!), the German car was a huge improvement. Had the VW until I sold it in 1982 when I pruchased my first Audi, a '81 4000 5+5.
