Default Thermostat cahnge 2.8

Need some help. Id like to change the thermostat on my 2.8 12v. Before I pull the covers off, is this a maor job or can I get to it without to much trouble Thanks

Default you will have to remove the timing belt.

the www.12v.org has step by step procedure.

I think it can be done without taking the timing belt off... with proper experience.

through the expantion tank, than throgh the cooling hose, than around the water pump

Even the Factory Repair Manual(Bentley) states it can be R&R without removing timing belt! ;O)

What about thru the bottom with the covers removed?

The above comment was a joke. I guess Muhammad is right you can do it without the timing belt.
