Did you have it done at an indie mechanic?

Muhammad,

I know you are the man when it comes to this stuff. I have to get mine done. I've hit 70k and nervous driving it around everyday. I have a 95 A6 2.8 12v non quattro. Should i pick up the parts myself and have a shop install them for me ? If so, where should i order the parts from? Do you know of a shop in Connecticut ?
Thanks Muhammad.

Try eBay, www.elautoparts.com, www.partpalace.com, Blaufurgen, etc. for the parts.

Thanks Gary but still want to find out if i should buy them myself then look for a shop or just have the shop get everything i need but worry that they'll just go to Audi to get parts and i would pay top dollar.

Default Most indep shops use parts from the same database as these on-line suppliers, so they will be...

much less than having the dealer do the same service. Also, some of these indep shops will install parts you supply, but won't warranty the part or re-work the service free if there is a problem.

Default Yeah... there's some risk in bringing your own parts...

Some indie shops won't do it. Others will. I buy parts from GPR (http://www.gprparts.com) or the parts bin (http://www.alloemaudiparts.com)... both are good as well as the ones Gary suggested.

Ask your indie shop for a list of prices. If they're significantly higher than what I posted, you can print out the prices from an online parts source and total them up to show them the difference.

Every $100 adds up.

Default If you are planning on DIY, send me an email.

I have the tools in Glastonbury. I loan them to AWers for free, but I won't ship them - pick and and drop off only.
