How long without service / flush? what is likely
History. 92 100 CS bought off lease in 95, W/55K. 5-6K, Tranny leaked, (pourous case)and was replace with brand new by 100% warranty. Lucky me. 9 yrs later and close to 200K, trans never serviced, yet not a hint of problems.
How I drive. Most would think I am an old man the way I accelerate, especially in town. It makes no sense to jump on the gas when next light 100 yards ahead is already turning red.
That doesn't mean I am completely in a rest home. On the highway, I average about 10 more than the 70 mph limit here in Mich. I do take my time getting up to speed, but like to maintain and see no sense (wasted gas) in accelerating around someone.
Bottom line, I am gentle on the tranny. Will it last forever? Juice is not dirty, (Yes, I have a dipstick), but can't remember last time it needed topping off.
Probably should have been serviced several times in 9 yrs, but never got around to it. BTW, yes, I have taken car of other things like the TB, which has been replaced twice.
At this point, I wonder if it would be a bad idea to flush and replace the juice or would it be unwise to disturb the sleeping Godzilla?

ZF, who makes the Audi/VW trannies, has a list of approved fluids on their website. For a given...
transmission, ZF lists ATFs from essentially all the oil companies (e.g., Castrol, Shell, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Texaco, Valvoline, etc.) that comply with their requirements. The current ZF listing (TE-ML 11) I have is Edition 01.01.2004. For the C4 trannies (e.g., 4HP18FL, 4HP18FLE, 4HP18Q), you can use ATF according to lubricant classes 11A or 11B. If you have a newer ZF tranny (e.g., 4HP20, 5HP19, 5HP19FL, etc.), then they recommend only the OEM ATF.
BTW TimI, I'm south of you, near Sumner.
