1/8th mile drag race results!
Ok, so I decided last friday to take the boostmobile to the local 1/8th mile "race track, not street" dealie-o at the qualcomm stadium parking lot.
Lotsa fun, learned a few things. Aside from sleeping at the line, the main thing I learned was that traction is more of a problem than I thought. Man, I am jealous of you quattro folk! I ran my quickest time of 9.8sec with boost turned down to 6-7psi...I had a very hard time launching hard and holding traction over 6psi. Spinning the tires through first and most of second gear at 8-9psi only got me 10+sec runs. My 60-foot times of around 2.5sec were pretty weak considering the 75mph+ I crossed the finish with. Anyone have slicks I can borrow? Heh.
I also noticed little difference between idling and pushing my car through the staging lanes; I think my intercooler is plenty for the application.
So I guess 225mm wide tires and 8-10psi is going to be the next thing to try. Aside from an LSD that's all I can do for now. I'm hoping for low 9's...if I can get the tires to stick. :P
Those (stock *cough*) Evos better watch out next time...I was only an average of half a second behind 'em last time! Muahahaha!
