Default 1983 Audi GT Coupe

I have a mint 1983 Audi Coupe with approximately 27,000 original miles (not a typo, 27,000)that has never been driven in winter. Would you be able to give me some idea of its value or where I might go to get an idea of its value?

Also, do you know if any of these cars were ever crash tested by the government to determine their safety-I am driving the car as a summer everyday car?

Thanks for any information you might be able to provide,

John Staral

The CGT is fairly sturdy, it is designed to collapse and absorb energy up to the passenger compartment like most cars. Usually if it is any serious kind of wreck it won't be repairable. I race mine with only a roll bar and harnesses and am not afraid; the only weak part of any car is the doors and the Audi is no better/worse than any modern Asian car.

KBB.com should be used as a guide only as they are not that reliable. Plus, there aren't any cars that are comparable to yours out there, so it is difficult to place an accurate value on it.

John,

I've been rear-ended TWICE in my '85 GT and both times it was in the 15-25mph range. Insurance fixed the car twice, with the worst damage being a buckle over the rear wheel well. Didn't effect me at all either time. The 83's structure isn't any different. The cars that hit me (a cavalier and a ranger pickup) were both totaled. The Cavalier sustained $14k of damage! My GT was $2500.

Still drive the car. I felt safer in it then in my wife's 98 Subaru Outback (recently replaced with an A6 Avant).

Well, I dont have a coupe, but I have been rear ended too, twice! And there was no damage whatsoever from either times, how amazing is that!

Why are you interested in the car's value? Are you planning to sell the car or are you just curious?

Default If you find a buyer who appreciates...

the vehicle for its condition and is willing to offer you a respectable sum, then you can probably get well over blue book value. However, it will be difficult for you to find such a person. Unless you get lucky, I would keep it. It is worth more to you than what most people will pay for it.

I agree with that, I would only sell my car to only one person really, the guy who works on it at the Audi dealer, he wanted it from the day I took it in. It would break my heart to see somebody else take it and not take care of it!
