Default Best oil for noisy lifters on startup

Hey folks, lifters on my 85 4000S are a bit noisy after the car has sat for a week or so and was wondering what engine oil has worked out best for quieting them down, so many choices out there, synthetic, diesel, rotella etc

Default Noisy lifters...

Hey there,

What has worked for me in the past when I have had to let the car sit for a while is adding a little ATF or Marvel Mystery Oil to the crankcase. You don't really need to add a lot. Maybe 8 to 12 oz. It has worked wonders for me, cleans those sticky lifters right up.

I had run dino oil for years without issue, when I switched to a synthetic blend, the front crank seal started to weep oil. Others I am sure will have lots of thoughts on what type of oil to run. But the ATF or Marvel Mystery Oil should help with your lifter tick.

Cheers,
