Default some info I posted before

you won't need all of this stuff, and could really get by without having any of it. You can use air tools on the top nut, but you won't be able to get the right torque unless you have the special tool. I made the second tool shown out of a spark plug socket, by cutting the sidewalls away, leaving 2 small teeth needed to grab the nut.

special tools

Default Wes - you still have the exhaust manifold from that white 4kq?

If so, email me.

Default Re: Changin parts questions.....

If you are going to do all of this, why not do the control arm bushings (assuming they haven't been done in the last 50K miles or so) since you have it all apart. To do the mounts, you need to get the struts off and will need a strut nut remover (kind of like an O2 tool which lets you get an 5 or 6 mm allen (use a socket not a key) on the strut (KYBs use 5mm and Boge use 6mm) and holds the 22mm nut. You will also need a slotted nut tool to remove the strut bushing. I'd also suggest replacing the strut bushings (aka those slotted nuts) and use a torque wrench on the reassembly. Here's the URL where I bought the strut tools (got my spring compressor at Sears for under 40 bucks. Also have some PB Blaster handy and spray on all the bolts a few days prior to soak em up. The hardest part will be to get the sway bar end bushings in. you will swear you got the wrong part but soak the bushing in hot water and lube it with soapy water, put the bar on a flat table, push in one end, hold down while pushing the rest of the seam around with a flat blade screw driver and it'll go. Also I suggest getting the sway bar bushing kit from Blau since they include all the hardware to make the reassembly go fast. As to the ball joints, a forked separator (tie rod separator)or a press tool is required. You'll need the tie rod tool to get the struts off too.

http://www.germanautoparts.com/</a
