Check valve/diagnostic ? in exhaust system...
Hey guys...
[I don't have my Bentley here at work and I can't remember the exact name for what I'm trying to ask you about. It's in the exhaust system and can be easily reached behind the front passenger wheel of my 85 4kq. I think I looked it up once before and it's a spot perhaps where the dealer does emissions or diagnostic tests?]
Anyway, I usually keeped it plugged up with an epoxy putty so my car doesn't sound like a hot rod (since I blew what ever original cap was once there). Thing is, my "plug" repeatedly blows off. It's no big deal...just have to crawl down and re-plug it again.
Question: Do any of you guys have this similar problem? And if so, do you know of a better means of plugging it (other than getting it welded or getting a new one)?
Thanks for your input...it drives me crazy!

The tech broke mine off when he was trying to remove it a few weeks ago. He showed me that he really plugged the hole good. Funny thing is, is when I removed the downpipe, I kept that thing attached, and it came out fine. He seemed shocked that I didnt remove it. I had no idea what it was at the time, and it came out fine with the downpipe, oh well.

Here's what I did.....
I got a stainless sheet metal screw that fit the hole. I went to the local home depot and found a very fat, very short ss screw that fit the hole, and screwed it in. Tightened it up, and no more leak. Had one of my 4kq's like that for about a year and a half. No problems.
Good Luck!
