Clutch master cylinder.

Clutch master cylinder.
My Clutch m/c is getting awful; I'm having to bleed the system every two weeks... I was quoted $100 for a new m/c. Are rebuild kits available, or is the new m/c the best and only way to go?
Thanks

Re: Clutch master cylinder.
The rebuild kits are available - i got mine for $17. Rebuilt the cylinder about 1 month ago, and it seems to be working good as new. At least i don't loose any brake fluid through oozing onto my floor mat and the pedal doesn't get stuck.
Of course, it depends on the condition of your cylinder. If it's not smooth on the inside, the new rubber seals will get destroyed pretty soon - in that case you should go for the new one.

Re: Clutch master cylinder.
I havent had the problem of losing fluid onto the floor mats... Makes me wonder if it is necessarily the master cylinder. Could it be the slave cylinder? A way to check? Usually, I bleed my clutch and within two weeks, it actuates right at floor, sticks down, and generally sucks.
Alex, where did you get the rebuild kit? (Against the advice of the parts guy, I rebuilt the leaky slave cylinder on my Saab, and it has been perfect going on 2 years now; so, as they say, my mileage may vary.

Re: Clutch master cylinder.
I got it at Shucks / Kragen.
As far as checking the slave cylinder - i have absolutly no idea... If the pedal gets stuck, it probably means that the seal on the piston is in bad shape or your cylinder walls are corroded. In the later case you better replace the cylinder.
