It was a good Audi day...
Was in Indy with my friend Jeff for a poker tournament, and Collin stopped by to show off some new mods to his 4kq. I had to sell him a few parts too (floor mats and reflectors).
The paint on his 4kq is amazing, looks 500% better than it did last time I saw it. The eyebrow kit on there really sets it off too, I wasnt sure how it would look, but it sure does look awesome. Its a totally different car, many new parts since I had last seen it. He installed the Billzcat SS kit as well, and let me drive it. I must say, Collin is alot better driving his car than I am. He took me for a spin and was just slamming through the gears, the car feels more tight than mine does, probably due to worn out engine mounts and my rear diff mount.
On a different note, I started ordering parts for the MC engine tonight.
Heres what I ordered, and where from...
10vt ARP Headstuds from 034EFI
Crankcase Gasket, cylinder head gasket set, exhaust stud (10), exhaust nut (10), exhaust manifold washer (10), all from Importec.
Intake manifold bolt (8), and Urq throttle cable, from WorldImpex.
Grand total for all those parts was around 300, I think.
Im going to order the engine tuneup parts in 2-3 weeks, right after Carlisle.
It starts now, once I get the parts above I can start to clean/paint the block, then start assembling it and making sure everything is clean and tight.

You could take the dimantled block and parts to a mach. shop so they can hot tank it!!
It should be pretty cheap; block, crank and rods, they can also media blast the pistons.
It's good to get out all the crap from the cooling passages and oil passages!
That's what I did, along with honing the cylinders, new rings and bearings, That's why my pistons look new (they aren't!), but I basicly have a new engine!!

I did the same as the big fellah....
I also had him measure the cylinder bore for wear, as well as the pistons. Just needed a hone and new rings. Might want to have every surface measured for wear just in case. In my case, the crank had NO wear on it. I got away with only new bearings.
Good luck with it all and don't be scared to ask questions!

As much as Id like the motor to have "bling" factor...
Im on a huge budget that I must stick to. If I were going to send any part of the motor to a shop for hot tanking or anything, Id probably wanna rebuild it while I had everything apart.
This being my very first shot at a motor swap, it will be unique and well done, but by no means the best. Later down the road when I have more cash, I'll end up dumping more money into a motor and make it look realllllly nice.
Im just gonna get all the crap off the block and shoot it with some high temp paint and call it a day. Believe me, Id love for my car to look as clean as yours does, or Steve Ankney's 5ktq. Someday.....
