Headlight Switch????????????
My 1987 4000Q headlights somtimes will not turn off. I am running H4's with the BLAU double relay wiring harness. Last night turned off the ignition switch and the lights still stayed on, turned my headlight switch off and on and nothing happened. Turned my low beams to high beams then turned my headlight switch again and they finally turned off. Any thoughts???

My expereince w/ these switches>>
I had a similar prob... ignored it cause I could eventually get the beams to shut off. This was in my '84, about 2 yrs ago.
I really shouldn't have ignored it; must've had degrading wiring in that switch. around that same time I wired up a new radio as well. Was going home from work one day and the whole dash started smoking like it was going to catch fire. REALLY got my attention!!!
I ended up having to re-wire not only the headlight switch [where the near burning of the dash started] but feet and feet of other wiring inside the dash.
All-in-all, this was a real bummer, one I could've prevented if I'd r/r the headlight switch when the first symptoms appeared. The expense of re-0wiring the dash was a lot, made me consider wether or not to do it. Value of the car vs the cost to pay my mechanic.
