Default Just to know: Coupe and 4dr window mechanisims are just a bit different..

Just to know: Coupe and 4dr window mechanisims *are* just a bit different.

Not *much* different, but different enough to cause problems. They have a slightly different 'front to back angle' to them, and are also 'curved' a bit differently.

I know, becasue I *didn't* know there was a difference. Until I figured out why things didn't work... :-(

Default Better us have the 'bad' experience first..

Better some have the 'bad' experience once , and share it, that having everyone experience it for themsleves...

Us 'Audi Owners" already have enough 'fun' owning old Audis as it is..!

Default You are right about the "slight" differences in the mechanisms...

However with a little creative modifications they can be made to work 4K to CGT and vice versa. BTDT.

I found that the difference in the curvature between them allows the window to go down, but leave may 1/8" of glass above the window frame at the bottom when it's down ( it's a bit annoying with your elbow out the window, but livable).

The front to back angle can be completely overcome by enlarging the mounting holes with a Dremel tool to allow for proper adjustments.

FYI,

J.

Default Re: Cut the cable and wedge the window up with something. Need a new or "new to you" window reg...

Try a different switch before you do anything.

He could be hoping?

Having redone stringing the wire (and looks like I'm doing it *again*!), I'd hope beyond hope that it's the switch too...
