My Saturday rocked! :D
Woke up too early to get an early start on the drive to Gingerman Raceway (2 1/2 hours). Gas mileage was horrible, went through almost 3/4's of a tank of gas, and only covered 170 miles or so.
Anyhow, get there, nice weather, a bit cool, and lots of VW's and some Audi's are present for the track day. Got to ride in a B4 90 (fwd, 5spd), my first ride in one, it was a_90's car from the 80/90 forum. Very fun time out there, but near the end of our run, we hit an oil slick and spun into the grass. Little did we know that we hit an oil spot until later. When we spun, we saw a nice silver GTI across the road, smoking. Turns out something had gone REALLY wrong, whole back end was covered in soot, and the oil pan was cracked, and had a nice hole in it. It wasnt pretty, and I had never seen anything like it.
Got to ride in an older VW Cabriolet as well. Had all sorts of cool mods, and handled very well.
As for Audi's, there was an UrS4, UrS6, B4 90, B6 S4, B5 S4, A8 (HUGE Porsche brakes!!), an A6, a TT, and a B5 A4 1.8T.
Tons of fun, Putnam Park is next month, should be lots more fun there

Yup, I talked to Paul...and got pics...
Very, very nice gentleman Paul was, as I mentioned you first off. His A8 sure is nice, I didnt know he had those upgraded (and large) brakes until I spotted the calipers and he told me about them. Hard to believe his car is 8 years old. I didnt get too many pictures, got a nice one of Elijas UrS4, that thing has one huge turbo!
I keep going back to the 10vt idea, rather than 20vt. The more I think about it, megasquirt sounds like a good option right off the bat, rather than mess with CIS.
What do you think?
Mike
