This and that...and a pic of a wheel you might use
The machine shop that I used (and had used once before with equally perfect results) does very tight tolerance aerospace work....worlds away from some of the quick drills I have seen and heard about.
The wheels on the 4K are 16". I think they are a good balance between looks and improving handling, while being about as harsh a ride as I am willing to live with. In my mind anything larger would look silly and the ride would be too rough (not to mention added weight).
Several years ago I sold someone in Canada set of the 14" wheels I mentioned. He had a wheel shop strip them and do a combination paint and polish job. They came out great and he has them on his VW (yes, VW) Fox. Here's a pic:

I'd like to see a silver/polish effect, or full polish. What do YOU think?

What I think....
Is that those wheels would look perfect. The original wheels for the Fox GTI were a combo of black and silver wheel covers, very similar in design to the Audi snowflake.

when I almost bought the car as well. The killer of the deal was when I found out that it was an automatic. If it had been a stick, I would have bought it in a heartbeat, no matter the cost. However, it was a bit more than a 2nd Lieutenant could afford at the time fresh out of college, and it was an automatic, so I decided to hold off.
Then I bought the Fox GTI I have now a year later, and it has been a project and a half..... but worth it!

Did you get TWO rounds of pictures...
I wanted that car something fierce. I think I first began communicating with him about it 8 years ago. I LIKED that it was an automatic!
After pressing I got a second round of pictures. In some of the engine bay I was *pretty sure* (not positive) I saw rust creeping out from under the firewall and where the fenders bolt to the body. When I asked very specific questions about it he was fairly vague and simply stopped replying.
If I remember correctly it had been his wife's car and she was sick or had passed away. I think he just didn't want to deal with me any more. I wasn't rude in any way, but I wanted to be sure what I was getting.
Do you still have contact info.? (lost mine). It would be SOMETHING if he still had it.
If so, PLEASE get in touch via email.

I give you a 1978 Audi Fox GTI in MINT condition... but its an automatic (booo..... hisss....)
But unfortunately, I lost all his contact info when I moved from New Mexico to Florida... maybe you can track it with the license plate?
