Default Rear calipers revisited

My friend Ben has been teasing me with these brand new Girling G36 calipers that he is tossing on the rear of his Mk1 GTI. Im highly jealous because he got them (with carriers) for 140 for the pair.
My question is what calipers does the 4kq use in the rear? G54's in the front, correct? What is in the rear? I of course have ETKA but dont know exactly what car the calipers are for that Ben has, hes just making them work by using some stub axles.

Thanks all

Default 54's up front.. pretty sure its 36's out back..

i believe that its the same as a 16v rocco.. so thats probably how he's putting them on the mk1 GTi.. rocco II's were still based on the A1 chassis, so it's all the same.

Default almost positive.. they'll have a 36 stamped on them if so.. not sure about carriers though..

but if they're both 36's you should be able to use your carriers.. or so i would think

Default I think lots of calipers will 'fit', but..

I think lots of calipers will physically 'fit', but they may have subtle differances.

A big thing to look for is the direction the parking brake cables go from the caliper.

FWD VAG calipers often head froutwards, whereas the 4kq rear calipers need the parking brake cables heading towards the center of the car..
