Default Replacement of vacuum advance for Coupe GT

I cannot find any directions for how to replace a vacuum advance on my 1986 coupe GT. I have classic problems with stuttering at 3500-4000 rpm and the installed one is not working but I cannot figure out how to get in there and replace it. I have a new replacement but no clear path to get teh old one out and new one in. Haynes and the red shop manual for this year do not talk about this at all. I know this is a common problem but cannot find a description on how to replace them. Thanks for any help you can give

On these you have to take the trigger wheel off first, which is the sort of cup thing under the rotor that has five (or four, depending on engine) slots/windows in it. To do this you pretty much need either the factory tool or you can make one. It's basically like a bearing puller but with three arms on it with hooks. The three hooks go in three of the windows and then you tighten down a center bolt that presses against the rotor shaft.

Found a pic:

It would be easy to make something that would accomplish the same if you're handy.

Anyway, then the rest comes out.
