Saw a 1982 Coupe in a lot today.
I stopped to ask if It was for sale since it didnt have any plates on it. I had a nice body kit on it and approx. 57,000 miles on the clock.I am quite sure thats not accurate. The mechanic told me it might be for sale, and to check back next month. I am going back next week to ask again and to really check it out. I had an 86 Coupe before. Is the 82 more or less the same car?

Yeah more or less...
There was a body update for 1985, just like the 4000. It got a bit more power, a bit more refined, and nicer interior...basically an "extensive facelift" along with a new engine. But the overall car is about the same. Frankly, I like the look of the very ealy Coupes (before they were called Coupe GT), like the 81 & 82. I love the old 14" snowflake wheels, wish they fit my car... Heck, if I found an 81/82 Coupe in great condition with low miles, I'd trade my 87.5 for it...maybe...

I hate my snowflake wheels!
In fact I'd give them away if they weren't now holding up my parts car. I have 6 of them (wheels), but two of them are bent bad enough they can't be balanced. If you just look at them they bend. And they're not fun to keep clean. Soon as I bought my '84 parts car I swapped the rims.
But ya, I love the '82 Coupe. No power windows, no sunroof, no airconditioning=less things to fix!!

Re: 82 coupes fuse box vs newer
My 83 coupe gt has the fuse box under the hood - but on the urq's they sometimes had the fuse box under the dash. So I'm just wondering if the 82 coupes have the fuse box under the dash or under the hood.
for the urq's the underdash fuse box is a problem i believe - in terms of reliability.
Rich - you have the 82 and 83 so I figure you know.

Re: 82 coupes fuse box vs newer
Yup. Under the dash. And they aren't very good. Had to take it completely out of the car and re-wire some of it. The rear window defroster fried it. I disabled the defroster after that. I saw a web sight awhile ago where a fella redid his with a later fuse block, but I'm not that ambitous.
