<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/13228/shtrg.jpg"></center><p>Ive been looking for a while, and I'm not sure if I found what I'm looking for. I've been to a bunch of VW pages that offer short shift kits, but most don't look like my application. I found one which looks similar, but I'm not exactly sure. I have the reverse lock out. (means I have to push down to get to reverse) and the kit offered by qualityvwparts.com seems to be close. I added a picture of this kit. Any ideas? I believe it's off the A2 models. It would be great if these fit. Nice and cheap.

The link that I provided shows a short shift kit for about $100 for a Typ81. Would this be correct for my application? And is it worth the money?

Cut the shaft yourself &amp; rethread it! Its what I did on mine! Works great!

And I've never been able to find a kit. I looked at your link, there aren't any pics of the reiger kit, so I can't tell if it works or not. I modified the linkage on my old coupe by moving the pivot point up (the white pastic ball). I haven't tried anything on my current coupe, although I was thinking of replacing most of the rubber joints with heim joints.

go to the hardware store, tell the guy you need a die to cut new threads, hell show you these little nut looking dealies. find the right size and thread count (dont know off the top of my head, bring the shift lever w you and see which one fits) and there you have it. id recommend practicing on the piece you cut off first if youve never done it before, cutting good threads is an aquired skill. id also recommend some cutting fluid.
