So I wanna pick your brains about possible front seat options for my 4000
basically, what options do I have for a performance oriented seat that will plug and play? I saw some options for GTI (I think) seats that I could swap in... anyone know how much those would cost? What years do they come from?
Reason I'm asking is because I have a set of A4 sport seats sitting in my house. I was going to swap them into my A4, but because they are cloth (and I have leather seats) and manual (my driver's seat is power) I will need to reupholster something to make them match (front seats leather or rear seats cloth) and weld in a bracket so that I can use the manual seat in the driver's position.
So with this in mind, I got to thinking about putting them in the 4000....
When I tore out the interior of the 4000 for cleaning purposes this weekend (yeah you heard me... all seats out to vaccuum and clean the carpets/seats... I'm sick, I know), I got to measuring the sliding brackets b/n the two seats. The A4 seat uses the EXACT SAME mounting system as the 4000 (nice right?)... BUT unfortunately has a 22" rear mount/slider width vs the 4000 seats that have ~18.5" slider width. Other than that, there is really no difference b/n the seats, other than the fact that the A4 seats are infinitely more comfortable and in vastly better shape.
Is it worth fabricating some new brackets, hacking the A4 front seats up and making them work on the 4000? This isn't too much work in all honesty, I'm just curious if there are better (recaro stock seats maybe?) options out there that will just bolt in for a similar price to the A4 sport seats if I were to sell them. If I would do the different seats, I would just sell the A4 sport seats to fund the new seats. They're a hot commodity in the B5 forum, so I will have no problems getting rid of them. I got them for free too, so either way I'm making out just fine in all honesty
Let me know what you guys think!
Thanks!

I've got Jetta Trophy Recaro seats
But you can also fit Recaros from a GTI. Sorry don't know what year. Both have a similar problem as your A4 seats. The rails were too wide. I took a torch to mine along with Mister BFH and managed to bend them narrower.

so you have pix of the brackets you did to get the rear sliders to fit?
I got some ideas on how to do it, but more suggestions are always welcome.
Looks good though

those are yummy... :)
Now the question is, where would I find them, how much would they cost...
If I'm going to have to continue to doctor any seat that goes in there though, I'm half inclined to keep the sport seats... we'll see I guess. I'm in no rush here.
