Water Wetter Works Wonders

Water Wetter Works Wonders
Got my Water Wetter on Friday and put it in on Sunday. My 'hot' ride still runs a little hot, but doesn't get above the 3/4 mark anymore. Before the WW it would go above 3/4 and bounce in between that and the top mark after about 10 minutes of freeway.
I recommend it if you've got heat issues!

Re: Or just fix the heat issues and not put a bandaid on it... ;-)
Smart ***...
Got a low heat thermostat on the way. I'll be putting it in this week, and hopefully that'll really make a difference.
When you live in the desert you gotta do everything you can to keep the heat down!

Agreed, it should almost never go beyond 1/2
Maybe 1 notch above in really hot humid weather. Even on 105* days with very high humidity (heat indexes of around 115-120*F) my car NEVER goes more than 1 notch above 1/2 in stop and go traffic. in fact it almost never goes past 1/2. When it DOES go 1 notch above 1/2, I begin to worry...

Re: Whats a water wetter??
It increases the thermal conductivity of water so your cooling system will whisk heat away more efficiently.

Actually humidity should help lower your running temps. That's another problem with Phoenix, hot AND low humidity.
I've 7 pre-1990 VWs and Audis and everyone one of them had heat issues down here. 3/4 of the way up is next to normal... (still makes me bite my nails though!)

It actually takes away the water's surface tension so it "sticks" to the radiator better....
Which gives the water better heat transfer capability. You can do nearly the same thing by only running a 25% antifreeze mixture, instead of 50/50. As long as you're protected from freezing in the winter, this will work wonders.
But, as stated, fix the problem....and before that, find out if you really have a problem by using a cooking thermometer that's been calibrated (put it in a glass of water and ice and it should read 32*F after a few minutes, if not adjust the needle by turning the nut on the back) and find out what you coolant temp really is.

I try ;-)
You may look into running the aux. radiator setup from the NG engined CGT, or any of the B3 5cyl cars. My temp never ever even got close to half-way during auto-x'es, not even in the paddock/grid area. Also won't hurt to do a radiator/cooling system flush/clean with Preston SuperCLean or whatever it is. Comes in a small yellow bottle, in the coolant aisle of places like Walmart.
