Great Diagram and it's needed to make the headlights brighter... but thats not whats burning the
Switch up.... it's the parking light circuit.
Install three relays and your all set.

frank has posted a pic in the past...
but unfortunately, 4corners has deleted it from his pic poster
A pic of mine below is an idea of what it looks like, but unfortunately it isn't that helpful. If I had that other pic, it'd be a load easier to explain.

I know you want to take the red wire going to the switch and use it to power the relay (#30 post), and then you take the two wires for the parking lights (gray/black and yellow green (I think)) and tap those together and run them to the #87 post on the relay, making sure to leave a min of 1" on the plug side so you have something to tap into when rewiring.
Then you need to trigger the relay by turning the switch on (#85 terminal on the relay), and then the power will run through the relay instead of the switch. And then hook the #86 terminal up to a common ground.
That's the general crash course of the description. Hopefully Frank will chime in and give a really good detail :-P

Speaking of headlight switches, mine gets hot when my lights are not on....
Anyone else have that problem or a possible solution? Previous owner installed euro lights and relayed those. I don't get why it heats up when the switch is off.

There is a light bulb inside the switch, that lights up when the ignition is on (behind the 'light' picture).
Makes a bit of heat.
Be thankful yours works.. Most have died by now! :-)

Parking Light Relay diagram...
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/80066/4kswitch.jpg"></center><p>Picture was 'borrowed' from 4 Corners poster. Too good a diagram to loose!
Anyway, a lot of the heat you feel frrom the headlight switch is fromt he bad connection between the power feed connector to the parking lights(red wire) starting to go bad.
Good idea to relay the parking lights (like in Justin's post) AND relay the headlights (like in the picture in UrbanAssaultAudi's post).
You should never use up another headlight switch again, and your headlights will thank you.. :-)

Must be a 60 watt bulb with the kind of heat it's putting off...
well, not really 60 watts. But it does get really hot to the touch and my light does work. Seems a lot more heat than a small 1 or 2 watt incandescent bulb would generate. Speaking of the light burning out, has anyone swapped the bulb out for an LED?
