1990 Audi 100 Transmission Problem
I have a 1990 Audi 100 sedan, not Quattro, with the 3-speed automatic tranny (REH version). 223,000 miles but well maintained.
Very suddenly, the transmission started slipping in forward driving ranges and the next time I started it, all FORWARD DRIVING RANGES inoperable. It still drives in reverse, however.
Is my transmission toast, could this be a linkage issue or maybe an electrics problem?

Re: 1990 Audi 100 Transmission Problem
The 3 spd is a hydraulically operated transmission that doesnt have any electrical controls. Usually when all forward speeds stop you may hear a winding noise with the transmission in Drive when giving it a little gas, or it may even slam into gear. Either one of those indicates the trans should be replaced.

Re: Try some of that Lucas trans fix, it might work. No harm done at this point anyway.
If the trans is full, drain off a bit then pour a liter/quart of the Lucas goop in. For the sake of twenty bucks it may get the car going for a few more miles and enough time for you to source a replacement slushbox.

If I remember correctly...
That has the same tranny as the VW Passat of that era. I had one.
It may be the electronics for the valve body.
If you're in Colorado, Buget Transmission at County Line and Broadway has a tester for that trans.
