SOUNDS LIKE A DIODE OR TWO HAS GONE BAD IN YOUR ALTERNATOR. THE UNIT WILL MINIMALLY CHARGE, BUT WON'T COVER THE CURRENT DRAW WHEN ALL ACCESSORIES ARE GOING. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, THE BATTERY DRAWS DOWN. A COMMON PROBLEM WITH EARLIER GENERATION AUDI.

Default Replace the Voltage regulator.....

those voltage regulators wear down over time and begin to loose contact which wont allow the alt to keep up with hewavy load

Default VR is on rear of alternator

The voltage regulator and brushes comprise one replaceable subassembly that's held to the rear surface of the alternator by two (6 mm hex head?) screws.

Buy Bosch replacement VR from any Worldpac reseller.

Time to obtain a shop manual. Ask sis to buy one for you.

One (of many) Worldpac reseller:<ul><li><a href="http://www.sjmautotechnik.com">http://www.sjmautotechnik.com</a</li></ul>
