87 5KTQ Clutch Woes
I am replacing the throw out bearing in my 87 5KTQ, CS. I ordered the full set, but Advance Auto ordered a clutch for a 5KTQ S, will it still work, i thought the only difference was the size of the surface, shouldn't all other dimensions be the same?

Re: Not sure on this, but if the flywheel is the same, the clutch should be too.
that is what i figured that the CS may be rated for more power thus slightly larger, about 1/8th inch according to some figures I found, but the overall diameter of the pressure plate, starter teeth, and throw out bearing is the same.
It is good news, considering the 5KTQ C clutch is over $150 cheaper than the CS clutch set.
wOOt!!!

Same pressure plate != same clutch
As the trans input splines can be different sizes. No idea if this is the case with these cars, but in MKII VW's the pressure plates are fully interchangeable, but the 16v uses a large input shaft and thus has a specific clutch.

Re: Same pressure plate != same clutch
Bentley says the trans are identical. But they share the same motor so I assume they are interchangable as well. We will find out tomorrow!
