Default 88 5000 cstq odometer question....

My odometer broke and i want to replace it....but i would like to have the same mileage where the old one left off, anyone know the correct way to change it? i tried just pushing the digits on one and it made it go wacky. Any help appreciated, Thanks!

I sent mine to Palo Alto Speedometer for repair. It was around $100.
