Default 89 200 i looked at.

so i got to look at/drive the car for a bit today. It needs a good amount of work from what I see, but probably worth the 1200 he wants for it. I took some pics of it, so I'll get them on here soon. It was pearl white, with beige interior. Automatic transmission. 160K+ miles. Typical Audi stuff wrong with it. Then the real suprise came to me when I drove it. Found out the turbo must be shot ): I drove it, not too far at first with the guy sitting in the passenger seat. I was scared to hit the gas too hard cause I thought I'd kick me. Well I gave like half throttle, didnt do much, so i FLOORED it, held it down for like 3 seconds, waiting for a kick of the turbo. It moved, but my 84 5k seemed quicker. I figured this cant be. So the guy left, I asked him to keep the car at the shop, and I would put it in his driveway later on. I drove it again in the lot, this time trying to spool up the turbo by holding the brake, and RPM at like 2000 rpm, letting go of the brake and flooring it. Still nothing special. I dont know maybe it wasnt enough room for the turbo to come up all the way, But I had it to the floor for atleast 3 seconds, and didnt notice anything... So either the turbo was gone, or something wasnt connected right. Well for $1200, it would probably need another $2000 and a good amount of work thrown into it. (automatic recently redone). But I figure I have a car (my 84 audi) it is very solid, pretty quick, has 5 speeds, ive done alot of work on it already, so I will just leave the 200 for someone else to buy. If anyone is interested, let me know. Otherwise, im sure he will sell it, and It will be fast again some day :-)

I don't think I want it now after your yard test of the turbo. It probably needs another Tranny! He, he!

What was the boost pressure? Check the hose from the intercooler to the intake manifold. Turbo's like the mixture to be cold.

Default nah

haha ! NO, I didnt push it hard at all. I gave like 1/4 throttle under braking, and then floored it when I let go.I was really almost considering the car, and really trying to see if it has any boost, these are the tests you do when test driving a car like that. But with all the restriction or whatever, it couldnt of done any damage because under full throttle, it was like giving half throttle if the turbo was normal. I know what it can take, I really didnt push it hard at all, didnt even get it over 3500 rpm. Hope you were just kidding around /:

it really is a nice looking car. If I had time, and money, (or maybe if he took a good amount off the asking price) then I would go for it. It is so comfy inside, and the engine does run smooth, and quieter than the old 5000S' just wish it had boooooooost ! btw:if the picture doesnt work, try again, it should work some how.

Default Three things I noticed from the engine shot...

1. Got a leak under the hydraulic resevoir, and all hoses look original.

2. Non Bosch distributor cap.

3. Looks like an all metal Modine radiator.

4. The afterrun coolant pump was supplied by Lockheed as it is in stealth mode, or it's MISSING and bypassed (quite probably the latter).

Okay that's four.

Oh, and the Michelin Man hose looks original, feel up underneath it for holes or pull it and do a real inspection. That may be the cause of the lack o' boost.
