91 v8 5 speed quattro rms question
so i recently got my 91 v8 5 speed and i asked the guy i bought it from if the RMS had been done. he said no which i was not too upset about considering its a 200lbs lighter transmission. the engine was replaced under warenty at 15k the car now has 106k on the odometer and a tbs was recently done. He mentioned something about Audi possibly putting in a upgraded quality RMS on the 91 v8 5 speeds but wasn't sure. just seeing if anyone knows if this was to be true or not or if i should be looking at pulling out my first tranny by my self this fall.

I'm not 100%, but pretty sure that's a pure line of BS.
Usually, anthing to do with the block, was a complete remove and replace, the Audi tech's were not allowed to be inside the block.

Re: 91 v8 5 speed quattro rms question
its not leaking that i know of. the exhaust is set up diffrently so i dont think its going to burn oil like the 90 auto. just wondering if i should possibly need to replace it or if there was a higher quality seal they put in the 91 from the 90. also i was wondering if it was normal to hear a quiet grinding from ufo brakes when the pads and rotors are in great condition or if this is something i should look into.

On the UFO brakes grinding...my wife's V8 does the same.
So I pulled both front rims & checked & all was fine. Which I knew cause I replaced both front rotors & pads about a year & a half ago for the PO before me. But,
I put a new set of pads on anyway...still grinds a bit sometimes.
& on the RMS....the seal is the same from 90-94 on these cars. If it aint broke....don't fix it. & certainley if the RMS was fine I wouldn't be talking about it....you know what will happen if you pay to much mind to it rite!
