Default Alternator question...

Hey people, i have a question...on my alternator (110 Amps BOSCH) there is a little capacitor attached to (it's very close to the voltage regulator) it that acts as an electrical noise filter. I replaced the original alternator 2 years ago but since the new BOSCH alternator came WITHOUT this capacitor, i put the old one.
Now i realize that this capacitor is dead/dry and it doesn't work anymore(it looks melted)...and also i get this little whinning noise in my speakers as the RPM climbs to ~4-5k rpm. My "filter" is not working anymore.
My question is....does anyone know where i can purchase a new capacitor for my alternator?? I looked around and it's not even listed as a part. Most of the older Audis i've seen don't even have a capacitor on their alternators. Any ideas where to look for it?

Thanks!
Dan

Can you read if there are any specs for the capacitor on it?

Don't know where you can find one except junk yards or dealer. Don't fix it! Market the idea as a new age Audiotach you invented.

Default Try a 10uF 18V or better electrolytic. Or an alternator noise filter kit from Radio Shack or........

car stereo place. The noise in the stereo could also be bum (old) filter caps in the power amps of the head unit or the rear speaker/amp units.

I'll go to RadioShack first thing tomorrow and ask them for this kit. i hope they have it.
I know that the noise is not from the amps...i have a brand new high-end head unit and all my speakers are aftermarket with new wiring. I removed the old speakers with the amps long time ago.
I think, before i didn't really hear the noise so much beacuse i had only 6 speakers. Now i installed 2 pairs of twiters and they pick every little noise you can imagine.....so, the higher the RPM, the noisier it gets. It's not that bad because if i have a song playing, you can't hear the noise. If i "pause" it, then i hear it if i'm going with 4k+ rpm.
I'll figure out this whole thing.
Thanks for the help!
