Auto to 5-speed conversion on V8
I really want to start this project but am suprised to find no information on the conversion. Has this ever been done? Does anyone know were I can go for some info? I am simply not skilled to go into this blind. Thanks.

Get a 200q with a torsen box as a donor car (thus keeping with Audi's setup, no extra vac. lines to mess with). That way you have all of the clutch and associated bits to do the swap(not sure if the half-shafts and/or driveshaft are different between A vs M trans?). The automatic V8 block does not have all of the bolt holes of the manual does, so you may need to machine/tap a few to secure the block to the trans completely. You may want to talk to Jeffery Goggin, as he at one point was putting a automatic block 3.6L PT code engine into a urq. He commented about the bellhousing pattern differences, and remedies (think he did remedy that problem, but never got the PT into the urq due to time).
Mike Tipton converted his FWD 90 12v from auto to manual, would be similar in execution in all respects except the driveshaft.
OH, one other thing...I'll bet the H pipe on the autotrans car will be different than on the 5spd car. If you have to get a different one, just build one yourself, would be cheaper to do that than find one (HA!) in a bone yard or at the dealer.
